French Fry-related Art
Pop Culture or Fine Art?

Some crazy Dutch guy who cut off his ear painted some useless sunflowers and the painting sold for more than US $13 million! Imagine what artists could earn if they would paint more interesting things, such as French Fries! We've looked around and found that there is a serious lack of serious French Fry art, so this page may stretch things a bit.

Our first (and still only) piece in the French Fry Gallery is Hindu Ketchup. The artist is Sandra Guzdek and her site is at http://www.webmaster.com/sandra/. We fell in love with this picture and begged and pleaded with her to let us show it. She gave in because we did goofy things in the 1980s, just as she did. We also asked really nicely. And she likes French Fries. The line through the picture is Sandra's copy protection.

Great Picture

Sandra sez:

This image was printed in the December 1991 issue of Sassy magazine. Sassy put out a call for their reader-produced issue, so, poor college student that I was, went over to get a bunch of colour copies made, and promptly sent them off. I got a call from (I think) Tracy in the art department, and got the assignment to do this picture for a short fiction story by Ann L. Simonds called Hindu Ketchup, about a girl who is dealing with her brother's death by focusing all of her energies on making a ketchup bottle float."

We've never got a chance to read the story, but we love the picture. Yum. We're reminded of a college girlfriend...

Are you a starving artist with pictures relating in any way to French Fries? Looking for exposure? (Starvation is not a requirement.) We can't pay you, but we'll place your work here and give you credit, exposure and all that nifty, non-tangible stuff.
